Individual Counseling

Empowering Personal Transformation

Life can feel overwhelming, especially when faced alone. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, or simply a persistent sense that something feels off, individual counseling offers a dedicated space to be heard, understood, and supported.

At Reformation Counseling Center, individual counseling is more than talk therapy. It’s an intentional process of self-discovery and transformation. In sessions with a licensed counselor, you’ll explore the deeper patterns behind your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and develop practical tools to create meaningful, lasting change.

Our Parker, CO office serves individuals throughout the surrounding communities, including Castle Rock, Lone Tree, Denver, Aurora, Highlands Ranch, and Littleton.

Is This Right for You?

Who Individual Counseling Is For

Individual counseling may be a good fit if you are experiencing:

Persistent anxiety, worry, or panic that disrupts your daily life

Depression, low mood, or a loss of interest in things you once enjoyed

Difficulty coping with a major life change such as divorce, job loss, relocation, or a new stage of life

Grief and loss, including the death of a loved one, miscarriage, or the end of a relationship

Unresolved trauma or painful past experiences that continue to affect you

Low self-esteem, self-doubt, or a diminished sense of self-worth

Feelings of isolation, burnout, or emotional exhaustion

Difficulty setting healthy boundaries in personal or professional relationships

A desire for personal growth, clarity, or a deeper understanding of yourself

You don’t need to be in crisis to seek counseling. Many clients come simply because they want to grow, gain perspective, or develop healthier ways of navigating life’s challenges.

How we can help

Our Approach

Our counselors use evidence-based therapeutic methods tailored to your unique needs. Approaches used in individual counseling include:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Helps you identify and reframe unhelpful thought patterns that contribute to anxiety, depression, and other emotional challenges. CBT provides structured, practical tools you can use both in and outside of sessions.

Narrative Therapy

Allows you to examine the stories you tell yourself about who you are and what you’re capable of. By separating yourself from your problems, you can rewrite limiting narratives and discover new possibilities.

Existential Therapy

Explores questions of meaning, purpose, and identity. This approach is particularly helpful during major life transitions or when you’re feeling disconnected from your values.

Motivational Interviewing

Supports you in resolving ambivalence about change by drawing on your own motivations and values, rather than prescribing solutions from the outside.

The Process

What to Expect

Your First Session

Your first session is an opportunity to share your story in a safe, confidential environment. Your counselor will ask about what brings you to counseling, your personal history, and what you hope to accomplish. There is no pressure to share more than you’re comfortable with. This is your space, and we move at your pace.

Ongoing Sessions

Sessions typically last 50 minutes and are held weekly or biweekly, depending on your needs and schedule. Over the course of your counseling journey, you and your counselor will work together to identify patterns, develop coping strategies, set achievable goals, and track your progress.

Between Sessions

Growth doesn’t only happen in the counseling room. Your counselor may suggest reflections, exercises, or practices to try between sessions that support the work you’re doing together.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if individual counseling is right for me?

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about how to move forward, or if you simply want a deeper understanding of yourself, individual counseling can help. You don’t need a diagnosis or a crisis to benefit from working with a counselor.

How long does counseling typically last?

The duration varies from person to person. Some clients find that a few months of focused work addresses their concerns, while others benefit from longer-term support. Your counselor will regularly check in on your progress and adjust the plan as needed.

Is what I share in counseling confidential?

Yes. Everything discussed in session is confidential, with limited exceptions required by law (such as imminent risk of harm to yourself or others, or suspected abuse of a child or vulnerable adult). Your counselor will review confidentiality in detail during your first session.

Do you offer telehealth sessions?

Yes. We offer both in-person sessions at our Parker, CO office and telehealth sessions for clients located in Colorado.

What if I’ve never been to therapy before?

That’s completely okay. Many of our clients are starting counseling for the first time. Your counselor will walk you through the process, answer your questions, and make sure you feel comfortable every step of the way.
